Our Escapes are set in what was originally a borgo, a cluster of homes and farm buildings surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, producing wine and olive oil. From medieval times, landowners, their family and workers all lived and worked together in borgos, baking their bread and pizzas in a community oven.
Locally, cooperatives and associations formed with distinctive, local brands. Here the black cockerel of Chianti Classico wine dates back over 300 years.
All the rooms in our Tuscan farmhouse, barns, limonaia and loggias have been lovingly restored over eight years. Sympathetic design has brought them up to date with the latest air conditioning, wi-fi and modern en suite bathrooms, while retaining original features of stone walls, wooden beams and terracotta tiles.
We are a small, boutique borgo offering only 6 double and twin en suite bedrooms set in an estate of olive groves, cypress trees, gardens, an orchard, an orto or vegetable garden, an area of oak woodland and a magnificent swimming pool. There are two sunbathing terracotta terraces with a total of 12 sun loungers, so every guest is always guaranteed a sunbed by the pool. In the evening the area is lit and accentuates the turquoise water, while admiring the dazzling display of fireflies and the soothing hum of cicadas.
We do not penalise single occupancy but, instead, offer a discount if you want to share a room with a non-participating partner or friend, or are willing to share a twin-bedded room with a fellow escapee.
